Whether you are looking for a novelty birthday cake, a themed cake for a special occasion or a beautifully detailed wedding cake, Creative Cake Art will make you a genuinely original work of art that everyone will talk about.
Creative Cake Art is in West Brunswick, Melbourne, Victoria.
Creative Cake Art was set up by Sarah Theaker in 2007. Sarah was born in London in the UK and trained in 3D illustration at the University of the West of England at Bristol.
It was while working at a children’s art centre, The Art Yard in London, that she first became interested in cake sculpting, after seeing (and tasting) the children’s cakes at birthday parties held at the Art Yard. Following a cake design training course she began creating cakes for friends and soon began taking on commissions. Sarah met her Australian husband Chris in London and they relocated to Melbourne in 2004. She worked for a number of years as a freelancer cake designer in Melbourne before setting up Creative Cake Art, working out of a shop on Nicholson Street.
Over the years, Sarah and her team at Creative Cake Art have designed hundreds of cakes for weddings, birthdays and special occasions, including cakes for two successive Melbourne Grand Prix events. She closed the shop in 2012 to concentrate on motherhood ! in February 2012 Sarah’s daughter Tilly was born, soon followed by her son Lachlan in 2013. She now works on a smaller scale, designing and creating cakes at Sarah’s home in Melbourne.
“It was absolutely fantastic Sarah, honestly I can’t believe how sensational it was and how much it looked like my dad. It was definitely the biggest talking point of the party. And thank you for steering me in the right direction with regards to the type of cake because it was demolished – I’m not kidding, there were about 4 pieces left by the time everyone had some and then took some home! Thanks so much for creating such a wonderful and personal gift for us to give our dad.” Sue Jones
Dear Sarah, we ate out at a Japanese restaraunt – he ended up cutting the cake with a samurai sword!! Very fitting end for such a magnificent cake. Thank you so much. The cake was fantastic… everyone was so impressed. I also gave Craig the actual car that night too, so everyone saw the car and the cake and was even more impressed at the effort you made! The cake itself was also delicious. There is nothing I would have wanted changed – I was completely happy with it all – amazed by your efforts – and impressed by your talents. Thank you so much.” Vicki and Craig Ditcham
“Both Sherine and I were over the moon with the ‘one-of-a-kind’ cake that you put together for our wedding. It was a major talking point of the night, and we received many, many compliments and enquiries! We were also very appreciative of your enthusiasm which was there from day one all the way through to delivery of the cake. The constant feedback of your progress as well as your willingness to listen to our ideas (and refine them) was also appreciated. Thanks again, and we look forward to getting more cakes from you in the future.” Sherine and Nival Fernando
I hardly ever do the same cake twice. Every cake is completely custom made.
This is what I love about cake decorating. Nearly every cake order is different, an exciting new project that is uniquely personal.
I have a huge passion in sculpting and painting. Artistic cakes is what I believe I specialise in, not cakes that look familiar but cakes that are unusual.
Here are examples of some of my cakes done here in Melbourne, at Creative Cake Art
Custom book cover cakes This wedding cake was for a couple that loved reading and study, and watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! Their wedding invite featured two Owls which I made as cake toppers. They sent me photos of their favourite books and the Dvd box set.
